[United States] — [12/1/25] — Fox Pest Control is proud to announce Shreyan Singha as the recipient of the 2025 Fox Pest Control Future Leaders Scholarship. Selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants across the country, Shreyan distinguished himself through extraordinary leadership, resilience, and a deep commitment to mental health advocacy and community healing.

Born and raised in Coral Springs, Florida, Shreyan Singha carries the heart of his community with him wherever he goes. Now a freshman at Duke University, he is pursuing studies in statistics and biology, with plans to enter healthcare consulting and investment banking. His academic excellence is matched by an inspiring dedication to service, youth empowerment, and expanding access to mental healthcare.
Shreyan’s scholarship essay moved our team with its emotional depth, leadership, and honesty. His journey began in 2018, following the tragic Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting—a moment that profoundly shaped his community and his own sense of purpose.
The passing of fellow student Calvin Desir underscored the urgent need for greater awareness, trauma-informed support, and destigmatized care. Despite navigating his own challenges with anxiety, self-doubt, and self-harm, Shreyan made the courageous decision to publicly share his story in a local newspaper. His vulnerability resonated with many, including a middle school student who told him that Shreyan’s words made him feel less alone.
Determined to better understand and address mental health needs, Shreyan enrolled in AP Psychology and later collaborated with Dr. Sonali Rajan of Columbia University on a systematic review of school mental health systems. Their findings—highlighting staffing shortages, trauma-response gaps, and the need for more comprehensive support—were shared directly with policymakers.
Shreyan’s leadership quickly grew beyond the classroom. He has:
His work extends to peer support as well. Shreyan founded MEWE, a youth-led mental health organization focused on awareness and stigma reduction. Through its blog, young people from 23 states and Aruba have shared personal stories, inspiring more than 3,000 readers. Shreyan also hosts a mental health podcast featuring experts, policymakers, and child welfare leaders.
MEWE’s impact earned a $2,000 award from the National Society of High School Scholars, but for Shreyan, the most meaningful moments continue to be the community healing discussions held each year on the anniversaries of the 2018 tragedy—spaces where empathy, resilience, and unity help transform grief into hope.
As part of the scholarship, Fox Pest Control donates to a charity selected by the recipient. Shreyan chose Kids of Love, a nonprofit he has volunteered with since middle school.
Kids of Love provides emotional and financial support to children facing debilitating illnesses. From hosting hospital events to helping grant life-changing wishes, the organization brings comfort and joy to families experiencing unimaginable challenges.
“This scholarship helps me further reach my goal of making healthcare more accessible in two ways. It allows me to further my studies in learning the business behind healthcare so I can understand more as to how to make healthcare more affordable. The scholarship also allows me to support a charity close to my heart: Kids of Love. This local non-profit works hard to support children with debilitating illnesses and their families both financially and emotionally.”
